Ron painting in the John Muir Wilderness, CA
Ron painting in the John Muir Wilderness, CA

When considering my life's career, I ultimately chose to pursue both Art and Natural Resources studies. Essentially a self-taught artist, I began painting wildlife subjects shortly after I entered graduate school for Natural Resources in 1974. Although they have undergone some evolution, my paintings have remained primarily representational and focused on Nature as subject matter. After several years of painting wildlife in acrylic, I have concentrated on painting plein air and studio landscapes in oil since 1996. My current favorite areas to paint are Lake Tahoe, the magnificent landscapes of the Sierra Nevada and other California scenes, particularly on the coast, and the Sonoran desert regions of the Southwest.
